Today marked Melania’s first solo engagement as First Lady. She has kept a low profile, appearing only at her husband’s side for a number of official events.
‘I came to encourage you to read,’ Melania told the children before launching into Oh, the Places You’ll Go! She later added that she wanted the children to think about ‘what you want to achieve in life.
“I am a passionate believer in integrating and interpreting nature’s elements into our daily lives to create a warm, nurturing and positive environment,” the First Lady said, according to a statement released by the hospital. “I believe that these same natural benefits can be instrumental to enhancing the health and well-being of all children.
“It is important to me that children can recognise, identify and express their feelings in order to promote their mental wellness and healing process.”
Reading Dr. Seuss’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go! — which she said was one of her favourite books — the First Lady told the youngsters: “You go places where you feel better,” before reading: “You’ll be as famous as famous can be. With the whole wide world watching you win on TV.”
