Biracial twins were born in Illinois and the Internet went nuts – not they are so rare, but also so adorable!
One is Caucasian, while the other is African-American. Kalani got her mother Whitney Meyer’s lighter skin tone, while sister Jarani got her father Thomas Dean’s darker skin tone.
“We’re chromosome twins. Kalani is light with blue eyes and Jarani is the darker one with brown eyes,” Meyer captured a photo on Facebook with the twins, who were born in April 2016. According to the BBC – a biracial couple expecting twins have approximately a 1 in 500 chance for their twins to be born with different skin colors. ‘Mixed Twins’ are also called fraternal twins, which means each twin was a separate egg, fertilized by two different sperm cells.
“At first when they were born, I wanted to believe it but it’s so rare I didn’t think it’d happen to my twins! But sure enough they’re biracial twins!” Meyer shared with KHQA, her local Illinois news outlet.
